Today I’m reacting to the YT Video, “What Home Sellers Don’t Understand About Staging + 3 Most Important Staging Tips”. Staging is important, but not that complicated. Let’s take a look!
About Eren Millam Realtor
Hey its your favorite local Realtor, Eren Millam w/ Premiere Property Group. I specialize in all things Lewis County because it’s where I live, work, & play. I’ve been in the industry almost a decade, much of that time spent setting the bar for customer service, social & digital marketing, and shattering pricing records. I do 1-2 videos a week covering the market, reacting to real estate gurus, educating and informing you to make the best financial decisions when it comes to real estate. Without further adieu, let’s dig in!
Staging Homes to Sell for More Money
Staging is huge for re-sale values. Think about when you’re viewing homes online or in person – how fast do you reject homes that look like a hoarder lives there? While you don’t need nice or trendy things to stage like the pros, simply considering your spaces from another person’s perspective can make a ton of difference. I will tell you from experience, most homes that are staged, that not usually how the furniture ends up for actual living.
Staging Homes to Show Beautifully
The purpose of staging is to attract buyers to your house. That’s right, I did not say home. Once you decide to sell your place, it is now a product. Remove all personal decor and any knick-knacks you don’t use on a daily basis. Oh, and you definitely want to make sure your home is clean and smells fresh. That is one of the biggest deal killers for buyers.

Staging Closets and Bookshelves
Most people believe that an empty home sells best. I’m here to tell you it’s quite the opposite. In the video, she says that you want to get your “storage” spaces to less than 50% of capacity. I disagree. At this level, the home comes off as cold and empty. It should be closer to 2/3 full. This amount shows how much your spaces can hold while also showing there is room for more stuff.

Quick and Easy Updates
In the video, she says to add new towels, linens, throw pillows, etc. to make the home feel new. While I agree with the sentiments, you’ll see that it doesn’t actually make the space look better. Some spaces it might, but you have to be careful about colors, fabrics, and shapes as all of these contribute to the feel and mood of the space. A much simpler action would be to change the doorknobs and cabinet/drawer handles.
