Only 8% of For Sale By Owner homes are successful. Today we’re going over how to sell your home without an agent at a higher success rate!
Are you considering selling your home on your own so you can save money on the high agent commissions? First, let me say that you can totally do it on your own but you have to be willing to put in some work. It’s definitely NOT rocket science.
Advice from an Agent – How to Sell Your Home without an Agent
Hi, I’m Eren Millam with Premiere Property Group … wait, what? A Realtor is giving me advice how to sell my home? Yes, that’s right. Now why would I do that? Well, I help people sell homes. If a certain segment of people are only successful 8% of the time, these are people that need help! Who better to help you than someone whose profession is selling homes?
Many people have bad experiences with real estate agents. Let’s be honest, the profession is one of the least trusted professions in the world – we’re barely above used car salesmen. While the saying, “Not all Agents are created equal” is true, another truth is that 20% of agents are doing 80% of the business. So there’s definitely a lot of options out there, but it’s like finding the needle in the haystack. Anyways, the point of this is not to sell you on agents, but that you’ll increase your chances if you work WITH them, rather than AGAINST them.
Exposing Your Home to the Masses (including Realtors)
What do I mean by that? If an agent contacts you for more information, give it to them. When an agent contacts you to preview the property for their buyers, let them. If an agent contacts you and tells you they have buyers – they’re probably full of bs! But, to find out, ask them for details about the buyers and have them send you a pre-approval letter. If an agent contacts you and asks if you’re willing to pay a fair commission for bringing you a well-qualified buyer, say yes!
All of those are examples of questions I’ve had for FSBO sellers and they point blank shot me down. Now, I’m not one to get in the way of a sale – if this is the perfect house for my buyers I’ll let them know about it, but if I can’t preview it or the owner is unresponsive – the buyer will know that as well and I don’t typically send them to homes where I can’t promise they won’t be murdered…
87% of Buyers Use a Realtor to Purchase their Home
So, you don’t have to like Realtors, and you don’t have to work with Realtors, but if you want a better than 8% success rate, you do need to be open to working with them on the buyer side. Some of them are jerks, but don’t work with them! I hope this helps and if you have any questions, it doesn’t cost you anything to speak with an agent – we’re not doctors or lawyers! Again, my name is Eren Millam with Premiere Property Group. Now, go out and make it an extraordinary day!
